Welcome ....Listen to what the people say !!

Power supply ....

Loadshedding is on the rise for the past few months throughout the country. It is a result of the negative policies of the past government and the current government is unable to do much about the problem.

I live in Rustam, which is a big town of the Mardan district. It is badly hit by power shortage and loadshedding is observed here for almost 13 hours daily. It has made people’s lives miserable and has affected all kinds businesses. Students are its main victims because it’s end of their educational year and their exams are round the corner. They cannot prepare for the exams due to frequent power failures. I request the prime minister, the federal minister for water and power and the NWFP chief minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti (who belongs to the Mardan district) to direct WAPDA for the uninterrupted power provision to the Mardan district.                                                 (Manzoor Ali,Rustam Mardan)

Mardan Hospitals

Is the Hospital Ready for a Major Disaster?

(This article was published in Frontier Post 4 months ago.Any notice taken by the government officials? )

The frequency of Bomb blasts in Mardan is rapidly on the increase. In the last two months at least five bombs exploded in different areas of Mardan District. So far we are lucky that the number of casualties in these blasts is low. But if these attacks continue then this number will definitely go higher.

The question now is what will happen if a bomb explodes in a busy market place which is full of people? Obviously it will be a major disaster and there will be fatalities and serious injuries. The victims will need immediate ambulance service and treatment in the hospitals of Mardan. These hospitals are already underfinanced and the medical facilities are negligible. It will be wrong to send these patients to Peshawar where the situation is even worse. The government dose not have the capability of stopping these attacks and the people can only pray for their safety and lives. But what the government can do is to start working on a Major Disaster Plan. It needs to improve the health facilities and train the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other personnel of the hospitals in Mardan as well as other districts. With the government claiming to have a huge financial reserve, it shall not be a big burden on the ministry of Finance.

Frontier House in Mardan

Frontier or Pukhtunkhwa House...

The Chief Minisister of NWFP has announced the estabilshment of Frontier House in Mardan. The Circuit House will now be called Frontier House and will be the main centre of dealing with issues of Mardan District. This is a good move to solve the local issues. Some locals have suggested the name of "Pukhtunkhwa House" instead of Frontier House because the name of the province will be changed, according to the promises of the new provincial and central governments.

The Biggest Lomotive Factory and No Train Service !!!

There is no doubt that Locomotives are represented as the cleaner alternative to trucks, Buses, coaches and play a vital role in movement system from cargo to local and cross-country destinations.
Whenever I travel from Mardan to Peshawar or in opposite direction towards Swat, in private or public transport, the Rail track of Mardan always attracts my attention. I cannot stop myself to discuss the importance of this track with the person beside me. The Track is so naturally built along the roadside and is already connected to Peshawar, Nowshera and Dargai-Malakand. There is a good possibility to be connected to Swabi and swat.

The Rail track is of great importance to Mardan in many regards. The benefits are:

1. Decrease heavy road traffic and congestion towards Peshawar and Swat

 2. Avoid the heavy loss of human lives due to road traffic accidents. These individuals are perfectly healthy.

3. Will play a vital role in transportation of local Goods and products towards the mainstream. Hence a better Market for Mardan.

4. The rail system allows more room and comfort. The Passengers can read or write, especially for elderly and female passengers.

5. Average speed can be doubled in comparison to the bus, thus offering attractive journey times, less labour cost for the passenger mile, and better usage of equipment.

6. Last but not the least that Rail is Environment friendly and is a better solution to reduce the pollution.

The biggest locomotive factory is situated only 5 km outside Mardan but surprisingly there is no train service to Mardan. Unfortunately during the last 60 years the train service has been destroyed. Who is responsible for this?

It’s the time for the common masses to come forward, form a group to put pressure on the local government and provincial governments. The people of Mardan definitely need a good train service, to live like the rest of the modern world.

Pa Mardan Maeen!
