Humanitarian Crisis in Mardan

 

As the fighting between Pakistan Army and Militants continues in Dir, Bajur and Malakand Division.This is one of the biggest military operation against militants in the area.  Due to the result of this conflict hundred of thousands of families have migrated to safer places in Mardan and Swabi district.

 

These people are displaced from their houses and they are going to camps to find shelters while some of them are not going to camps and they are living in Government institutions and relatives. These displaced persons are facing many problems and are living miserable life. The Federal and provincial Government is trying their best but they have failed to control over the rapid and increasing ratio of the IDP’s. The international community has promised millions of dollars to help these people which are displaced from their homes. Local organizations are the supporters organizations in this disaster. They are helping and facilitating these people in camps and outside the camps. Like these organizations Mardan Foundation is a front-line organization which is working day and night for the welfare of these people.

 

1. It has recently updated its regional website www.mardan.com in order to provide accurate and reliable information regarding the IDP’s to the entire world.

 

2. Mardan Foundation is also communicating with different national and international organizations with alarming news to come forward and support the IDP’s.

 

3.MF has recently made an emergency response team. This team includes high skillful and professional people in and around Mardan.

The team of Mardan Foundation is initializing a toll free help line with the help of District Government.

 

4.Mardan Foundation has facilitated the WFP (World Food Program) and its members are also working with WFP with the help of local organizations called HUJRA and PEACE.

 

5.MF team is also visiting different IDPs camps and collecting accurate data regarding the registration process in which most of the people are facing problems. UNHCR is registering the IDPs with the help of Government Social Welfare Department in different areas of Mardan.

 

 

The current situation inside camps is far from satisfactory. Due to the lack of basic needs, which must be provided immediately. The people inside camps and outside the camps are in search of food items and non food items. They are deprived from the health facilities although the Government has declared emergency in every hospital of the area. We, the team of Mardan Foundation APPEAL to the world community, national & international organization to come forward and support these innocent people which are already displaced from their homes because of the biggest military operation, which was lunched earlier.

We feel that the world community can help these people reduce their miseries and provide them all the basic needs. Mardan Foundation also request individuals for the donation.
