Mardan Punjab Regiment Center’s attackers killed 
The five attackers of Punjab Regiment Center Mardan were killed in a retaliatory attack by security forces, SAMAA reported Tuesday. According to sources, the terrorists attacked the Punjab Regiment Center Mardan by using self-made armaments. All the five terrorists were killed on the spot in a retaliatory attack by security forces. The two army officials of Punjab Regiment were also injured in the attack and were immediately shifted to Military Hospital.The polices has completely sealed the area and started the search operation.

Mardan Unversity will flourish

Terming the establishment of three university campuses in a short span of one year as a great achievement, Abdul Wali Khan University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Ihsan Ali here Friday said that 49 colleges from private and public sectors have been affiliated with this high seat of learning.

 

He was speaking at a ceremony held to mark the first anniversary of the university. The VC said that 12,000 students would appear in the examinations in July this year, adding that presently the main campus in Mardan city, the Shankar campus on Katlang Road and Riffat Mahal campus were catering to the needs of 10,901 students.

 

The VC revealed that Rs5 million had been allocated to help the poor students studying at the university. He said the university employees serving in and above grade 16 would donate one-month salary every year to the welfare fund.

 

Dr Ihsan Ali hoped the university would soon acquire the status of one of the best universities of the country due to its quality education and other academic facilities. The VC said co-curricular activities would be encouraged at the campuses but politics would be prohibited to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.
